Laser Skin Smoothing and Wrinkle Removal
The aesthetic CO2 Laser is a highly sophisticated device that utilizes a unique advanced technology to smooth the skin without scarring. Laser Skin Smoothing is the most popular laser procedure that we perform. The CO2 laser gives our doctors unprecedented control over the rejuvenation process, gently and precisely removing the damaged surface layer of skin cells.

The aesthetic CO2 laser is used like an artist's brush, tailoring the skin smoothing procedure to your individual needs. Fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes and mouth can be smoothed. Deep laugh and frown creases can be softened. Acne scars and some surgical scars can be minimized. The surface of the skin can be "freshened", revealing the new skin underneath and also stimulating skin renewal for a softer, silkier, and smoother appearance.

Aesthetic CO2 laser resurfacing is easily performed in our main Yuba City office. More than 95 percent of our patients prefer to have the procedure done under local anesthesia in our office laser surgery suite. Occasionally, a patient may request to be put to sleep during the laser smoothing treatment. If this is their desire, we simply go across the street to the Feather River Surgery Center where board certified anesthesiologists are available to offer conscious sedation or general anesthesia. CO2 laser surgery can take between 30 minutes and two hours depending on the size and location of the areas to be treated. Patients enjoy a short recovery time after CO2 laser skin rejuvenation, with minimal disruption of their routine. Most patients take 8-12 days off from work to apply an ointment and care for their fresh new skin. After the outer layer of skin heals by the end of two weeks, you are able to apply make-up and sunscreens. Wrinkles continue to improve over a period of six months.

All patients experience post-operative redness which always fades but can take anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months to completely disappear. There is temporary swelling, particularly around the eyes. It is important to use a sunscreen with SPF 15 protection against UVA and UVB rays and to avoid sun exposure for several months as this can cause changes in pigmentation.

It is our philosophy that the care after the procedure is just as important as the laser surgery itself. For this reason, detailed instructions are given to each patient and regular post-operative follow-up visits are scheduled.
